Baptism

Baptism celebrates a new beginning as a member of Christ’s body, the Church. To seek Baptism for a child is to say that you want to give them the gift of being part of God’s family and to have God involved in their life.

We welcome babies, children and people of all ages who wish to make this sacred commitment. The time and place for the baptism is arranged through discussion with the priest.

First Communion and Confirmation

Children can be admitted to Holy Communion provided that the priest has ensured that an adequate course of instruction has been undertaken and the child shows understanding of the meaning of Holy Communion.

A child is admitted to Holy Communion on the understanding that Confirmation will follow at the appropriate time. Candidates for Confirmation undertake instruction in the Christian faith, and formation in prayer, worship, Bible reading, giving and serving, in ways appropriate to their age and background.

Weddings

Do you want to hear bells at your wedding? You can at St Paul’s!

Marriage is a wonderful celebration and a holy occasion. It is always a joy for the community when couples ask for God’s blessing on their marriage. The clergy are here to help you plan a service that reflects you and your partner’s dreams, vision and values.

We can offer you a Christian celebration of your wedding which will become a joyful memory that lives on in your married life together.

Early contact is important! Be sure to allow plenty of notice to ensure that the date and time you want is available. Weddings are usually held on Saturdays, but other days of the week are also possible. A Priest can also preside at weddings at alternate locations such as at a home, a park or the beach.

Funerals

A funeral is an opportunity to remember and give thanks to God for all blessings of a loved one’s life and an opportunity to say goodbye. For Christians, a funeral is a time of hope, as well as a time of great sadness and grief. We are willing to give support to those who are bereaved and preside at a funeral at either of our churches, at the Graveside, or at a Funeral Chapel.

The practical details are usually organised through a funeral director, but we do encourage families to contact the church with any questions and issues, or for spiritual care.
